Artist Statement

Painting is a simple way of expression, a meditation of my surroundings. I am interested in portraying the constant barrage of images and people that surround me in the city. Media images frequent my eyes in this metropolis. They constantly compete for my attention to convey their commercial meaning. I like to paint and appropriate these images. They then become distorted and change from their original appearance into something more personal.
